My dad has been in the hospital for about a week and a half and has been in CCU for the last 5 days, and they will most likely keep him there until his infenction is gone. He was supposed to have his surgery today to take out the remainder of the tumor in his esophagus, but that is obviously being post-poned.
Although they still do not know the root cause of the infection, they are doing their best to make his situation better. He has a team of 6 doctors/specialists working on him, and I am so thankful for them. He is the youngest patient in CCU after all.
Although the last 5 days have been an emotional rollercoaster, he's doing a little better today. They will not sedate him at all, and he will be slowly coming of the breathing tube... his breathing is returning to 100%. It looks like the sedation was helping him out the last 2 days; he is obviously a lot more calm when he's sedated and less anxious. That way, his breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, and everything else that has been unstable gets stabilized. It was hard seeing him last night when he was sedated; he was sleeping, but he could still hear us when we talked to him. I wanted so much for him to squeeze my hand.
Please continue to pray for my dad, we miss him terribly at home.

I'm praying for you all, and I'm praising God that his breathing is doing much better! I will keep praying for his health and that the infection will heal, as well as strength for you, your mom, and your sister.
Love you bunches!

hey akalina...this is Rachel's friend Ashley, remember me?
Well, let me just start by saying I know EXACTLY what you are feeling right now. My dad had lymphoma 2 years ago and that was devastating to say the least.
Something that got on my nerves is when people told me to "stay strong." Why, no, you are allowed to be a bit of mess this time in your life...don't be afraid to express that! And, most of all, know that God will stay strong for you!
No matter the outcome, know that prayer makes everything better. I think you already know that, though :) I'll be praying!
