Since my last blog I've been taking care of my dad everyday, and I've been able to also see my friends a lot more often, spend time with my wonderful boyfriend, and take little Lilo on walks. All in all, it has been a great month.
My dad is also doing a lot better... He's been on physical therapy for about a month, and his mobility is increasing everyday. He's also eating a lot more, and slowly gaining some weight. His kidneys are finally improving too! Thank GOD!... that's a miracle. Another miracle is that his cancer is in remission right now. So, that is great news. He just needs to have scheduled PET scans about once every couple of months to see what the status of the cancer is.
I've also been doing some thinking regarding my life, purpose, and future. I've been realizing more and more that God brought this "lay-off" at the perfect time in my life. I'm re-evaluating whether or not the corporate world is for me... and I've been finding more negatives than positives to stay in that path. It's not that I can't do it... it's more about the negative politics, feeling like a number, and not feeling like I am bringing positive change in the world.
So it is a perfect time for me to pursue what I would like to do... and that is teaching!!
I'm taking it slowly right now... As of this week, I am working 2 days per week as a teacher in an after school program focusing on children that need extra care when it comes to language development and other similar skills. I have my own curriculum, and I can plan everything as I see fit... I love it! and I love my students, and it's so rewarding to put extra time in these students' lives... because they don't get it anywhere else otherwise.
The program is for about 10 weeks, and after this program finishes I'll continue to move along this path to gain experience as I go!!
